Ebb and Flow Hydroponics

In an Ebb and Flow system pots are filled with a non soil medium such as clay pebbles, peat, rock cubes, etc.,which does not function like soil or but which anchors the roots and functions as a temporary reserve of water based nutrient solution containing mineral nutrients.

The hydroponic nutrient solution alternately floods the system and is allowed to ebb away or drain from the plants' roots.

By placing the nutrient solution reservoir or supply tank below the growing bed, the nutrient solution can drain back by gravity.

This hydroponic growing system is in use today for a lot of  hobby type or home hydroponics systems.
